چکیده

The primary goal of every voting system is to ensure that electorate vote counts therefore, electronic democratic governance that provides a transparent and trusted election is needed. The traditional method of voting involves the use of physical paper ballot to casts vote. This is susceptible to time wasting procedures, ballot snatching, lacks voter privacy and question the integrity of fair electoral process. This paper describes our attempt to improve the authentication and integrity of evoting system using multifactor authentication and cryptographic hash function methods. Our system meets two of the key security issues in secured e-voting system: The threat of erring voter’s authentication and integrity of vote transmitted over insecure wireless medium. The results obtained from the test and evaluation of secured electronic voting system based on this model so far shows an avenue to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and as such, encourages the populace to have trust in the election, through the detection of altered votes in wireless medium and voter authentication through One time Short Message Service (OTSMS) and Grid Card multifactor

Security is a vital issue in the usage of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) for cash, cashless and many off the counter banking transactions. Weaknesses in the use of ATM machine could not only lead to loss of customer’s data confidentiality and integrity but also breach in the verification of user’s authentication. Several challenges are associated with the use of ATM smart card such as: card clo...

Cryptographic Hash Functions: Cryptanalysis, Design and Applications

Cryptographic hash functions are an important tool in cryptography to achieve certain security goals such as authenticity, digital signatures, digital time stamping, and entity authentication. They are also strongly related to other important cryptographic tools such as block ciphers and pseudorandom functions. The standard and widely used hash functions such as MD5 and SHA-1 follow the design ...

A Secure Hash Function MD-192 With Modified Message Expansion

Cryptographic hash functions play a central role in cryptography. Hash functions were introduced in cryptology to provide message integrity and authentication. MD5, SHA1 and RIPEMD are among the most commonly used message digest algorithm. Recently proposed attacks on well known and widely used hash functions motivate a design of new stronger hash function. In this paper a new approach is prese...

Compressed Image Hashing using Minimum Magnitude CSLBP

Image hashing allows compression, enhancement or other signal processing operations on digital images which are usually acceptable manipulations. Whereas, cryptographic hash functions are very sensitive to even single bit changes in image. Image hashing is a sum of important quality features in quantized form. In this paper, we proposed a novel image hashing algorithm for authentication which i...
